Driver of van with liquor arrested

A MAN who was driving a Starex van loaded with boxes of liquor was arrested by authorities at a police checkpoint in Bgy. Quilib, Rosario, Batangas Sunday.

Rosario Municipal Police Station chief Lt. Col Estrella A. Dionglay identified the suspect as Jerome Carandang.

At about 6:30 p.m. Rosario MPS personnel received a call from a concerned citizen that one van loaded with liquor world pass from Lipa City headed to Taysan town.

Upon receipt of the information, Dionglay alerted all police checkpoints in the municipality to intercept said vehicle.

Moments later, police flagged down the van (plate number ABL 2566) with  five boxes of Ginebra San Miguel loaded inside and arrested the driver.

Carandang was charged for disregarding the implementation of General Community Quarantine for non-cooperation under section 9 of Republic Act 11332, said Dionglay.
