Drug dealer killed in Baliwag firefight

AN armed drug trafficking suspect was killed in a gunbattle with undercover officers in Baliwag, Bulacan late Saturday evening, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe said. 

Romeo Velasquez alias ‘Ome,’ a man included in the watch list of the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency exchanged fire with members of the Baliwag Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit out to arrest him during the sting in Barangay Bagong Nayon around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, the official said.

Cajipe said the Baliwag undercover agents under Lieutenant Col. Jayson San Pedro were forced to fire back in self-defense killing the suspect on the spot.

The official said a still unidentified cohort of the slain suspect managed to escape on board a black Yamaha Mio Sporty motorcycle without plate number and is still being hunted as of press time.

He said recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a marked P500 bill he received from the poseur, a digital weighing scale and a caliber .38 revolver with serial number 727 with five live ammunition.
