Drug dealer killed in Bulacan shootout

BULACAN policemen shot dead an armed drug trafficking suspects during a gunbattle in San Rafael municipality and arrested nine others in a string of anti-narcotics operations across the province yesterday, Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe said.

The official identified the slain suspect as Arnel de Guzman alias ‘Japs.’ He said the suspect had just sold shabu to an undercover officer in Barangay Caingin in San Rafael 1:30 a.m. yesterday when he sensed the ongoing buy-bust operation and tried to shoot the poseur but missed.

Back-up operatives from the San Rafael Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit under Lieutenant Col. Laurente Acquiot returned fire killing the suspect on the spot.

The slain suspect yielded a loaded caliber .38 revolver, a sachet of shabu, the marked money paid to him by the poseur and a motorcycle without plate number, the official reported to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Rhodel O. Sermonia.

Cajipe identified the arrested suspects as Linon Mendoza, Bryan Bacho, Eric Espinosa, Benito Ferrer, Mylene Gutierrez, Marilyn Valencia, Aldrin Abucot, John Paul Nicolas and Marwin Yap.

He said Mendoza and Bacho are both included in the watch list of the Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Recovered from the suspects were 44 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, marked money, assorted drug paraphernalia, an improvised 12-gauge shotgun and a Honda Accord with plate no. UFE-777.
