A MAN tagged as the 3rd most wanted drug trafficker in Bukidnon province was killed while a policeman was wounded following a shootout which marred the conduct of an anti-narcotics operation in Kitaotao municipality early morning Thursday, Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan said yesterday.
Suspect Juhalim Saripada Abbas was killed on the spot when officers retaliated after he shot Patrolman Romie Milar in the upper left thigh during the operation in Barangay Sinuda around 5 a.m. Thursday, said the official.
According to Anduyan, members of the Bukidnon 1003 Police Maneuver Company led by Captain Mike Dioren Cavan and the Kitaotao Municipal Police Station were approaching the hideout of suspected drug dealers in Bgy. Sinuda when they were met with gunfire that wounded Pat. Milar.
He said that the lawmen returned fire killing the suspect. Milar was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
The policemen were about to serve a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2003 issued against the suspect by Judge Isobell Barroso of the Bukidnon Regional Trial Court Branch 8 when the gunfight erupted, according to Bukidnon police director, Colonel Roel Lami-ing.
