SAN JOSE CITY -- An ex-officio member of the city council and president of the Association of Barangay Captains was beaten up by two men, who went to his house and engaged the latter in a verbal tussle that led to the mauling of the barangay official.
Physically assaulted was Roderick Brillo, incumbent ABC president, of Zone 1, Bgy. Kaliwanagan.
City police head Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno identified the two suspects, who mauled the barangay official as Zaldybar Urbiztondo, 34, and Ariel Somera, 28, both of Zone 6, Bgy. Tayabo here.
The attack took place at 9 a.m. when the duo went to Brillo's house to confront the latter about a complaint lodged against them which is under his barangay's jurisdiction.
Bruno said their confrontation became intense until Urbiztondo went berserk and cursed Brillo before the suspects took turns in beating up the barangay official, who immediately sought police help after the incident.
Bruno said the two suspects were subsequently arrested and now locked up behind bars at the detention cell facing charges for direct assault upon an agent of a person in authority and unjust vexation before the city prosecutor's office here.
