End of the road for cop killer

A NOTORIOUS cop killer described as Manila City’s most wanted person was slain in a gunbattle with policemen who raided his hideout in San Rafael, Bulacan on Wednesday evening, National Capital Region Police Office director Major General Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.

Leopoldo Dumdumaya alias “Junior Demonyo,” a known hitman of the notorious Balong Drug Group operating in Manila and Bulacan exchanged fire with officers who traced him to his hideout in Sitio Bacood, Barangay Tambubong,  San Rafael town around 8:45 p.m. and was killed in the process, the NCRPO chief said. 

“The suspect who was wanted for killing two policemen and a Manila barangay councilman suddenly shot officers who were about to enter his hiding place triggering the deadly shootout,” said the Metro Manila police director.

Sinas said the slain suspect’s live-in partner Darlene Manapsal, 24; and her brother Darren, 25, were arrested in the operation. The two yielded suspected shabu and are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The raid was conducted by members of the MPD District Police Intelligence and Operations Unit under Brigadier Gen. Rolando F. Miranda with the assistance of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch and SWAT under Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe and the  Regional Intelligence Unit-NCR of the PNP Intelligence Group headed by Brig. Gen. Joseph Ulysses C. Gohel.

The operation supervised by MPD District Intelligence Division chief, Lieutenant Col. Jacinto Malinao specifically targeted Dumdumaya who is the subject of a warrant of arrest for two counts of murder issued by Judge Marie Bacorro-Villena of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 28.

The operation ended the career of a notorious hitman.

Sinas congratulated the officers from the MPD led by Malinao and Captain Jervies Soriano, the RIU-NCR team led by Lieutenant Kevin Rey Bautista, the Bulacan PIB and SWAT team led by Major Jansky Andrew Jaafar and  Lt. Benigno Aquino and the San Rafael Municipal Police Station led by Lt. Col. Laurente Acquiot for their role in the neutralization of Manila’s most wanted.
