PILI, Camarines Sur -- Former Bula town Mayor Benjamin Decena, 70, one of the longest serving chief executives of the town, was arrested by police operatives in Bgy. San Agustin, here, on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by the Sandiganbayan 5th Division of Quezon City.
Pili police spokesperson PO2 Eleno Colongue said Decena, who was in the vicinity of Bgy. San Agustin, was served the warrant of arrest issued by Associate Justice Rafael Lagos of the Sandiganbayan 5th Division.
Colongue said Decena is facing charges for violation of Section 3 of RA 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and for malversation of public property with a recommended bail of P50,000.
Reportedly, Decena did not hand over the municipal ambulance to the next administration after he ended his term in 2013.
