Ex-cop, hired gun, 5 others killed in clashes

A retired member of San Pablo City police allegedly involved in illegal drug activities and five others were  killed by combined operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch Drugs Enforcement Team (PIB/PDEU) and intel operatives in separate operations in Laguna on Thursday and yesterday morning.

Chief Insp. Jojo Sabeniano, Provincial Information Office chief, identified the slain police officer as SPO3 Nelson Dimatulac, of Purok 7, Bgy. IB, San Pablo City. Dimatulac was retired in 2012.

Also killed in San Pablo City was alias “Quintin”, member of “Batang Kubo”, a gun for hire from San Pablo City.

Police said Quintin  operates in Cavite, Batangas, Quezon and Laguna.

In Cabuyao City, Laguna, operatives of Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) shot dead Joesan Calatin and Wilmar Talosa, of Bgy. Banay Banay and Bgy. Banlic, respectively, in an armed encounter.

Police operatives recovered an undetermined amount of illegal drugs and two cal. .38 revolver each, both loaded.

In Sta. Rosa City, a certain Rommel Baladad was killed in an armed confrontation with operatives of Drug Enforcement Team (DET) in a buy-bust operation in front of a vacant lot in Bgy. Tagapo along Daang Bakal.

Recovered from the suspect was a cal. .45 pistol and a transparent plastic sachet of shabu.

In Pila town, a certain Tyman was killed in front of Don Manuel National High School in Don Manuel Subd., Bgy. Bulilan Sur during an armed encounter with DET conducting buy-bust operation in exchange for a medium sachet of suspected shabu.

During the operation, police seized a plastic sachet of shabu and a cal.  9mm pistol and the marked P2,500 buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, another drug pusher, identified as Jayson Sarreal, was killed during the anti drug operation in Bgy. Bagumbayan, in this town.

Chief Insp. Sabeniano said the suspect drew his gun and fired at the lawmen who quickly fired back, resulting in his death.
