Ex-mayor, 2 teachers, 5 others jailed for drugs

EIGHT suspected drug personalities including a former mayor, an incumbent barangay councilman and two public school teachers were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during a string of recent anti-narcotics operations which led in the confiscation of nearly P7.1 million worth of shabu, PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino announced yesterday.

The official said that arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Misamis Occidental were former Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur Mayor Liwaya Paras Angcap and Amiel Caw-It Enot, an incumbent ‘kagawad’ of Bgy. Colupan Bajo in Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental.

Angcap, the 7th top drug personality in Misamis Occidental was arrested by members of the PDEA Regional Office 10 and the Misamis Occidental police who raided her house in Purok 2, Bgy. Talairon in Oroquieta City on Friday last week.

The raid led in the confiscation of 15 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 25 grams of suspected shabu valued at P170,000, one caliber .45 pistol, two disassembled 5.56 M-16 automatic rifle’s lower and upper gun parts, nine pieces of 5.56 magazines, and various ammunition.

On the other hand, Enot, the 8th most wanted drug personality in the province was arrested on the same evening by the local PDEA and police during the service of a search warrant for illegal possession of dangerous drugs which resulted in the recovery of  26 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 15 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P102,000.

Another buy-bust operation in Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur resulted in the arrest of Ryan Cabilao, a teacher from the Minundas Elementary School in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay and three others identified as Edmundo Abalos, Sweet Ann Resuelo and Mia Grace Panganuran.

Aquino said that the PDEA Regional Office 9 and the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office joined hands in arresting the four suspects during a buy-bust operation inside Room 301 of  Golden Hotel in Purok Maabtikon, Bgy. Paglaum, Dumalinao town.

The second teacher identified as Rainisah Lomondot Alia alias ‘Saima Moda/Imam and her cohort  Naira Magdara Panda alias ‘Mila,’34, were arrested last Thursday while conspiring to sell shabu to an undercover PDEA officer.
