A former New People’s Army rebel was arrested by Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for illegal possession of a loaded gun and a rifle grenade in Barangay Liyang, Pilar, Bataan the other day.
In his report to CIDG Director Amador Corpus, Sr. Supt. Christopher Abrahano, CIDG-Region 3 chief, identified the rebel returnee as Ronaldo Tangente, of legal age, who surrendered to the government sometime in 2009.
A search warrant issued by Executive Judge Marion Jacqueline Poblete of Bataan Regional Trial Court was issued against Tangente for violation of Republic Act 10591.
Seized from the suspect were a cal. .38 revolver with four live ammunition and a rifle grenade.
The CIDG said that Tangente, who used to be a member of the rebel group operating in Bataan-Zambales area, later became a member of the Limay Criminal Group engaged in gunrunning and gun-for-hire activities.
Meanwhile, CIDG operatives arrested one John Ashley Llarves, of legal age, in Barangay Bitas, Cabanatuan City for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
