TWO men who posed as Pag-Ibig Fund employees to allegedly extort money from a buyer of a government housing project in Meycauayan City in Bulacan were arrested by the local police in an entrapment operation on Thursday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Superintendent Amador V. Corpus said yesterday.
Suspects Eden Bustus, a 62-year old resident of Barangay Loma de Gato in Marilao town and Ramil dela Cruz,47, of Sapang Palay, San Jose del Monte City are now facing criminal charges for extortion, said Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna.
The official said the two were arrested in a sting conducted by the local police in Bgy. Perez in Meycauayan City past 3 p.m. Thursday. The entrapment operation was launched in the wake of a complaint from a local resident who was approached by the two.
The victim said the duo claimed they were employees of Pag-Ibig Fund who will help in the facilitation of the latter’s housing loan. Bersaluna said it turned out that the suspects have demanded money from the victim in exchange for the speedy facilitation of the latter’s loan, the last of which was P10,000 which was supposed to be needed to claim the house-and-lot.
