Farmer, shot dead in Calamba City

A FARMER and a tricycle driver were shot dead in two separate incidents Thursday afternoon, in  Bgy.Makiling and Bgy.Maunong respectively in Calamba City, Laguna.

Calamba City police chief, PLT. Col. Gene Licud identified the fatalities as Marvin Esquevel Lira, tricyle driver, resident of Bgy. Makiling and Filomeno Quiatchon Motel, of Bgy. Maunong, both of Calamba City.

Liras was declared dead on the spot due to serious wounds in the body.

Initial investigation showed the shooting incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. near the Petron Gasoline Station  in Bgy. Makiling.

Lira was reportedly seated on his motorcycle and was waiting for his wife when the suspect arrived and peppered him with bullets.

PLt.Col.Licud said they are investigating if the victim was included in drug-related activities and other possible motives behind his slaying.

At about 5:15 p.m. of the same day, Motel, a farmer, was shot dead by two unidentifed armed suspects in Bgy. Maunong, Calamba City.

The victim was inside his house when the suspects called and asked him to go outside the house.

For no apparent reason, the suspect shot the victim several times then fled.

Meanwhile , Calamba police is looking for land dispute as the motive behind the shooting incident.
