After burial of pusher wrongfully tagged in slaying of Ecija priest.
SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija -- A freak accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon here when a funeral car caught fire after reportedly bringing to the cemetery a slain suspected drug pusher, who was wrongfully accused and arrested in last year’s killing of Catholic prelate Fr. Richmond Nilo.
Reports said the vehicular fire incident occurred shortly after Adell Roll Milan, 26, of Bgy. Malapit, who was killed in a buy-bust operation in Gapan City, was laid to his final resting place at the municipal cemetery in Bgy. Poblacion at 2:35 p.m. here.
Quoting an investigation report from the San Isidro Fire Station, Chief Insp. Ranny G. Casilla, town police head, said the funeral vehicle which caught fire was a Ford Expedition SUV, 2000 model with plate number WGC-961, owned by Jeffrey Jacinto, of Jacinto Funeral Services.
According to FO3 Edwin I. Javate, fire and arson investigator, the blaze, which was put out seven minutes later, originated from the main engine of the SUV, believed caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Estimated damage to the SUV was initially placed at P250,000.
