GENERAL Trias City, Cavite -- The local government here celebrates Elderly Filipino Week 2018 thru the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), with the theme: “Kilalanin at Parangalan: Tagasulong ng karapatan ng nakakatanda tungo sa lipunang mapagkalinga”.
Mayor Antonio ‘Ony’ Ferrer and Councilor Jowie Carampot, chair of committee on senior citizens affairs, lined up activities for senior citizens of the locality.
The elderly celebration set October 23 at the GenTri Convention Center is expected to draw hundreds of senior citizens from 33 barangays.
The LGU will also hold a medical mission for senior citizens of the locality on October 24 and 25 at the Convention Center in cooperation with Dr. Jonathan Luseco of GenTri Health Department.
Carampot is pushing for the amendment of the P50,000 grant for centenarian to P100,000 one-time reward to senior citizen reaching 100 years old of age, which is now on its first reading on Oct. 9, 2018.
He said three residents will be turning 100 years old next year: Francisca Monton born on Jan. 4, 1919 and Estefania Monton (Jan. 16, 1919) and Gabriel Madlangbayan (June 10, 2019).
