Globe’s help sought in Ecija lawyer’s abduction

CABANATUAN CITY -- Probers have sought the help of Globe Telecom in providing them a copy of the call logs and text messages of missing lawyer Alwyn Mendoza, who was abducted by an unidentified Hyundai van riding men in this city last week.

Police Colonel Leon Victor Z. Rosete, provincial police head, said earlier that his men were initially categorizing the motive behind the lawyer’s abduction as “work-related.”

Rosete said Mendoza, a former chief of staff of reelectionist Magnolia Antonino had filed an informal leave of absence before her office last week of December due to his state of health.

Being sought by probers were the contents of Mendoza’s four Globe mobile phones with numbers -- 0917-308-1767, 0917-174-8331, 0905-112-0060 and 0097-283-4799 which could help provide them with clues on his abduction.

Earlier, Rosete said the victim’s vehicle was allegedly being spotted travelling in Baloc, Sto. Domingo together with the Hyundai Starex van ridden by his abductors shortly after he was snatched last Friday afternoon here.

Its CCTV footage was obtained by the police showing the convoy was headed towards the direction of Sto. Domingo town proper said Rosete.

Rosete said they already sought the help of the Land Transportation Office to determine the name of the registered owner of the white Hyundai Starex van with plate number SHT-377 and its other important details.

It would be recalled that the 38-year-old lawyer was abducted at gunpoint by unidentified van-riding men in Mampulog Street, Bgy. Bitas on Friday afternoon here.
