GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – Combined police and military forces discovered an abandoned enemy encampment belonging to the New People’s Army during minor combat operations on Tuesday here.
Newly-installed provincial officer-in-charge Col. Marin Joe C. Saro said the abandoned NPA lair which could accommodate about 50 rebels, was sighted in Bgy. Ligaya at 9 a.m.
He added the operation also resulted in the recovery of various war materials that included subversive documents, two M203 grenade launcher ammunition, a rifle grenade ammo, four magazines containing 26 bullets, three fired M203 cartridges, 66 live cal.50mm ammo, a bandolier and a gallon of rice.
Saro said joint personnel of the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Lt. Col. Alexander C. Aurelio, the 303rd MC RMFB3, IG, 22SAC, 42AB, PNP SAF, Gabaldon police and the Army's Delta Company and COLT3 of 91ST IB were conducting the operation when they discovered the abandoned enemy lair in the hinterlands of said barangay.
Saro said the operating troops also scoured the adjacent area for possible presence of enemy forces but to no avail.
