OLONGAPO City Mayor Rolen Paulino belied reports that he and other city officials were arrested on orders of the Sandiganbayan.
In a statement emailed to the DILG Press Corps, Paulino said the report was “dirty politics” orchestrated by his political rivals to dislodge him as the city’s top local chief executive.
According to Paulino, his team had already posted P30,000 bail each before the Sandiganbayan could serve the arrest warrants against them.
There was also no truth to news circulated by his political enemies that he was slapped with a 90-day suspension by the Office of the Ombudsman or the Sandiganbayan.
”This does not mean guilt, this is our justice system at work, with a fair trial we believe that this case will be dismissed and truth shall prevail,” he said.
The mayor also called on his rival not to include and harass his family by “selling lies.”
“Patuloy po natin na isusulong ang transparency and good governance sa ating pamumuno na ating ipaglalaban ang tama alang-alang sa mga Olongapeños. God bless Olongapo,” he said.
