A member of the notorious Paz gun-for-hire group was killed on Saturday in a shootout with operatives of the San Pablo police serving a warrant for his arrest in Bgy. Bautista, San Pablo City, Laguna.
San Pablo City police chief Lt. Col. Elmer Bao identified the suspect as Mario Liwag.
Instead of yielding, Liwag allegedly pulled out a gun that triggered a gunfight.
Liwag sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Recovered at the clash site was the suspect’s .38 revolver.
Bao said the suspect was in the San Pablo City Police Station’s drug watchlist.
