CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Several guns, a cache of ammunitions and an explosive device were seized by operatives under the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 3 (CIDG-R3) in San Marcelino, Zambales the other day.
Sr. Supt. Christopher Abrahano, CIDG-R3 regional officer, said the weapons were confiscated from Eduardo Lopez, 61, barangay captain of Aglao in the said town.
Assisted by Zambales policemen, the operatives served a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Roline Ginez Jabalde of Olongapo City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 against Lopez for violation of Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Seized from the residence of the suspect were a cal. .45 Colt pistol and 89 rounds of ammunition for the said firearm, a cal. .25 pistol without brand with five live ammunition, a 12 gauge Akkar shotgun and three live shotgun ammunition, an undetermined caliber rifle, one M202 explosive, and several assorted ammunition.
The suspect, who failed to show documents for the confiscated items, is facing charges for violation of RA 10591.
CIDG Zambales lists the suspect as the leader of a newly identified “Lopez Criminal Gang” involved in gunrunning in Zambales under IR No 01-03-19-001 dated January 3, 2019.
Meanwhile, CIDG operatives arrested one Jayvee Ernesto Salmatin, 38, a former school teacher, in Sampaloc, Manila through a court-issued warrant of arrest for four counts of rape.
The suspect is the no. 1 most wanted in the Zambales police’s “Lambat Sibat” list.
No bail were recommended for his release.
