Habal-habal driver nabbed for fellow worker’s slay

ILIGAN City policemen on Tuesday arrested a ‘habal-habal’ driver identified as the man who shot and killed a fellow transport worker for still unknown reasons, the Police Regional Office 10 reported yesterday.

According to PRO10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan, the suspect identified as Alvin Archival, a 38-year old resident of Ruwanga, Pugaan, Iligan City was arrested in a hot pursuit operation conducted by a team of policemen led by Major Rixell Torayno and Master Sergeant Julbert Reporiol 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect’s arrest came nearly four hours after he was identified as the backrider of a motorcycle who shot and killed Martino Suban Jr., a 42-year old ‘habal-habal’ driver, along the highway in Purok 4, Puga-an area while the victim was driving his motorcycle with his wife as passenger.

An investigation showed that the victim, a resident of Calawag Puga-an was with his wife Elma, 36, when the suspect and his cohort tailed them while they were on their way home.
