A ‘HIGH-VALUE TARGET’ in Central Mindanao was killed in a shootout with undercover officers who tried to arrest him during a buy-bust operation in General Santos City on Tuesday, Police Regional Office 12 director, Brigadier General Michael John F. Dubria reported yesterday.
The official identified the slain suspect as Bimbo Datumangoda Solaiman alias ‘Dats,’ a resident of Purok 11-A, Block 4, Barangay Fatima in General Santos City.
Dubria said the suspect was found in possession of a caliber .38 revolver with three live ammunition and a spent cartridge, 19 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu and the marked money paid to him by a poseur during the sting in Purok La Vista in Barangay Tambler at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Members of the PRO12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Intelligence Division, joined by operatives from the General Santos City Police Station 5 conducted the anti-narcotics operation, he said.
According to Dubria, the suspect had just handed a plastic sachet which he sold to the undercover officer for P500 when he apparently sensed the ongoing sting and fired a shot at the lawman but missed.
He then boarded his motorcycle and tried to escape but was cornered and shot by a member of the team. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by an attending physician.
The slain suspect’s motorbike was impounded by the local police.
