CABANATUAN City -- A most wanted person tagged as one of four suspects in the 2016 murder of a barangay kagawad in Ilocos Sur was arrested during manhunt operations conducted here last Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Eliseo T. Tanding, provincial police director, identified the arrested wanted person as Marty Mandy Tapangco, 42, of Quimson St., Bgy. Quezon District, this city.
Tapangco was one of four suspects tagged in the killing of Barangay Kagawad Ireneo Braceros, of Arnap, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, last Oct. 17, 2016.
He was collared based on a Manhunt Charlie operation conducted along Vergara Street corner Quimson Ext., Bgy. Quezon Dist. at 11:30 a.m.
Tanding said the suspect is listed as one of the most wanted person in Region 1 and carries a P150,000 reward for his capture, citing DILG memorandum circular No. 2018-136.
He said the suspect’s arrest was carried out on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by acting Judge Raphiel F. Alzate of the Regional Trial Court Branch 34 of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
Tanding commended his men who spearheaded the arrest which was led by Supt. Alexander Aurelio, 1st PMFC-NEPPO commander, in coordination with the ISOD-Intelligence Group and the Asingan Police Station under Chief Insp. Ador Tayag.
