Jailed lolo turns out to be rape, sex suspect

SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija -- After hiding for eight years, the manhunt for a 67-year-old man long wanted for having three outstanding arrest warrants for rape and acts of lasciviousness has finally ended following the suspect's arrest in Bolinao, Pangasinan on Wednesday.

Town police head Major Roderick N. Corpuz said the three warrants were served in jail against suspect Renato Orenza, alias Renato Calado Pangilinan, of Bgy. Sto. Cristo, this town, and a temporary resident of Bgy. Concordia, Bolinao, Pangasinan.

Orenza who was earlier nabbed by the Bolinao PNP for illegal gambling was served the three warrants issued by two Nueva Ecija courts inside the jail at 12:30 p.m., said Corpuz, who on May 29 was promoted as full-pledged municipal police chief by Mayor Arvin C. Salonga after a six-month stint as officer-in-charge.

One of the arrest warrants for acts of lasciviousness was issued against the suspect by Regional Trial Court Judge Wilfredo L. Maynigo, of the Gapan City RTC Branch 87 with a recommended bail of P80,000.

Also, the suspect had two arrest warrants for rape under criminal case numbers 159-16-12 and 159-17-12 issued back in 2012 by Gapan City RTC Judge Celso O. Baguio, of Branch 34 with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.

Corporal Roy B. Empaynado, case investigator, said the suspect's arrest was carried out after prior coordination with the Bolinao police.

"Papalit-palit daw ng pangalan ang suspect kaya nagduda ang Bolinao police at nakipag-coordinate at tumawag sa ating warrant officer kay Staff Sgt. Ron Eric Catata tungkol sa true identity ng suspect," Empaynado told this reporter over the phone.

He said Catata then asked for copies of the suspect's mugshots for verification to be conducted in Bgy. Sto. Cristo.

After doing the background investigation, Empaynado said they were able to uncover the suspect's dark past that he had criminal cases pending before various local courts in the province.

"Sa ngayon, hindi pa muna siya maco-commit dito sa ating jail dahil may kaso siyang kinasangkutan sa Bolinao, doon siya nakakulong, pero naimpormahan naman na natin ang mga korte dito patungkol sa pagsisilbi sa kanya ng warrant of arrest," he said.
