JdV scion: Lakas-CMD founder’s legacy lives on, party strong again

DAGUPAN City, Pangasinan -- Fourth district Rep. Christopher de Venecia described it as homecoming to the political party co-founded by his father, five-time Speaker of the House of Representatives Jose de Venecia Jr.
The young De Venecia is running for re-election (second term) under Lakas-CMD. He filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) at the provincial Comelec office Monday morning with his parents, five-time Speaker of the House Jose de Venecia, Jr. and former Rep. Gina de Venecia, Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez and Lakas-CMD President Martin Romualdez.
Earlier that morning, De Venecia took his oath as member of Lakas-CMD before Romualdez at the De Venecia’s residence at Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City.
“Congressman De Venecia is a proud addition of Lakas-CMD. The legacy of the founder of Lakas-CMD lives on and we believe the party will be strong again,” Romualdez said.
Romualdez is optimistic their political party will become vibrant again in the province of Pangasinan under the young De Venecia’s leadership.
Lakas-CMD was founded in 1991 by former Speaker De Venecia, former president Fidel V. Ramos and the late foreign Secretary Raul Manglapus.
