Knife-wielding thieves hit bank employees at Laguna resort

SIX bank employees who went for an outing at a resort in Calamba, Laguna on Sunday fell prey to knife-wielding robbers.

One of the suspects also attempted to sexually molest one of the victims.

The robbery occurred at the Villa Sta. Maria Resort in Purok 3, Bgy. Pansol, Calamba City.

The Calamba City police identified the victims as Ethel Capuyao Ignacio, 41, a bank branch manager; Darla Camille Noriega, 22, Joanne Magisa Vargas, 23, and Rommel Castillo Tan, 49, bank customer service associates; Stanley Revilo Reyes, 22, and Ma. Jacqueline Villamor Sapaula, 48, bank employees, all residents of Manila.

The two suspects, who were armed with kitchen knives, entered the main gate of the resort and were able to sneak into the victims’ room.

Before fleeing with the loot, one of the suspects tried to rape one of the female victims.

The victim told the police that she was awakened by one of the suspects. The suspect threatened her with a knife, brought her to a comfort room  and told her to remove her clothes.

The victim said the suspect left while warning her not to make any noise.

The suspects fled with the victims’ three wrist watches, ATM cards, credit cards, PNB ID,  cellphone charger, adaptor and card reader, driver’s license, t-shirts, car key, one Samsung J7 cellphone,  and more than P10,000 in cash.

Police are investigating the CCTV installed at the resort to identify and arrest the robbers.
