A NEW PEOPLE’S ARMY (NPA) extortionist, who was responsible in burning two heavy equipment in Valencia City, Bukidnon last June 19, 2020 died in an encounter with government troops in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, Saturday morning, an Army official said.
Lt. Col Franklin F Fabic, Commanding Officer of 88th Infantry Battalion (88IB) disclosed that his troops were conducting security patrol to verify a reported presence of armed groups at the hinterlands of Barangay Mandahikan on Saturday when they encountered some 15 NPA terrorists at around 9:50 a.m. The encounter lasted for about 10 minutes, after which the armed group scampered in different directions leaving behind their dead comrade.
After the firefight, the soldiers seized along with the dead NPA terrorist, one M16 Rifle and a bandoleer containing four magazines. They also discovered an abandoned terrorist hideout that can accommodate 30 persons near the encounter site. Eight cellular phones, several medical supplies, and personal belongings were also seized by the soldiers. No casualty was reported on the government side.
The dead NPA was later identified by his former comrades as alias "Daligas", a squad leader who belong to the Guerilla Front Malayag, an NPA unit responsible for the burning of a dump truck and a pay loader at a quarry site in Barangay Sinabuagan, Valencia City last June 19, 2020.
