Laguna’s 5th high-value target slain in encounter

A member of “Papera Rana Drug Group” was killed by joint operatives of Provincial Intelligence Branch Drug Enforcement Team and Lumban police in an encounter during the anti illegal drug operation in Lumban, Laguna on Thursday night.

Calabarzon Regional IVA director  Chief Supt. Edward  Carranza identified the suspect as Jeremy Villegas, 39, and a resident of Sitio Laot, Magano Street, Bgy Maytalang-1, Lumban.

He was listed number  5 provincial high-value target (HVT) in Laguna.

The opeatives were conducting anti illegal drugs operation at about 4:35 a.m. along Bgy. Concepcion, Lumban, Laguna, under  Senior Inspector Serafin Gapunuan  and Lumban police when the suspect sensed he was transacting with a police buyer.

The suspect immediately drew his carried short firearm from his sling bag and fired upon the police officer that prompted the Police Officer to retaliate hitting the suspect from the different part of his body causing his instantaneous death.

Recovered pieces of evidence from the crime scene were 1 unit of 12 Gauge Shotgun (Mossberg), 4 12 Gauge ammunition,  1 unit of caliber .45 pistol COLT MKIV Series 70 chamber loaded, one cartridge with magazine loaded with 2 cartridge, 10 pieces of heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, 1 brown leather wallet, 1 color black sling bag and recovered money, 1 piece five hundred peso bill,  7 pieces of one hundred peso bill,  2 pieces P20 bill, 1 piece one peso coin, assorted documents and 3 pieces sim card.
