Lawyer’s abduction work-related

February 27, 2019

CABANATUAN CITY -- Probers are initially categorizing the motive behind the abduction of  missing lawyer Alwyn Mendoza as “work-related.”

Provincial Police director Senior Supt. Leon Victor Z. Rosete said this since the victim used to work as the chief of staff of reelectionist Rep. Magnolia “Megan” Antonino of the province’s fourth district.

This developed as the victim’s vehicle was allegedly being spotted travelling in Baloc, Sto. Domingo together with the Hyundai Starex van ridden by his abductors shortly after he was snatched last Friday afternoon here.

Its CCTV footage was obtained by the police showing the convoy was headed towards the direction of Sto. Domingo town proper, said Rosete.

Rosete said they already sought the help of the Land Transportation Office to determine the name of the registered owner of the white Hyundai Starex van with plate number SHT-377 and its other important details.

It would be recalled that the 38-year-old lawyer was abducted at gunpoint by unidentified van-riding men in Mampulog Street, Bgy. Bitas on Friday afternoon.

His abduction was reported to the police by the victim’s father Edwin, who said that his son’s service vehicle -- a black Nissan Calibre pick-up truck (OX-1553) -- was also forcibly taken by the suspects.
