Liquor violators wounded in Zambo Sur stabbing

TWO construction workers were wounded in a knife attack perpetrated by one of their drinking buddies in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur around 6 p.m. Saturday, the local police said.

Rafael Dolero Jr., 33, suffered stab wounds on his right and left arm while his relative Roel Pesodas, 23, was stabbed in the back. Both are now undergoing treatment at the Aurora Community Emergency Hospital, said a report from the Police Regional Office 9.

An investigation showed that the two victims were drinking at the house of their relative Jomar when they figured in an argument with another relative and fellow drinker Sancho Dolero.

At the height of their heated altercation, the suspect suddenly stabbed Rafael and then vented his ire on Roel when the latter tried to pacify him.

The suspect also suffered a head contusion after being struck by one of the victims and is now being treated under police guard at the Aurora Infirmary Hospital.

The suspect will be facing charges for frustrated homicide and violation of the liquor ban and the quarantine protocols. The victims on the other hand would also be charged for violation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

The incident came in the wake of PRO9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla’s order for his men to strictly enforce the ECQ in Western Mindanao  and go after liquor ban and curfew violators as they continue to wage their own battle to stop the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus.
