AN employee of the Ormoc City local government is now in jail after he was arrested in an anti-narcotics operation last Saturday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported yesterday.
Ariel Tayong, an Administrative Aide 1 of the Ormoc City LGU assigned with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was caught during a buy-bust operation in Aunubing Street in Barangay Don Felipe conducted jointly by members of the PDEA Regional Office 8 and the local police, said PDEA chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino.
Aquino said that the suspect who is considered to be a ‘high-value’ drug target yielded two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing an estimated P1,000 worth of shabu, a mobile phone and the marked money paid to him by an undercover agent.
The suspect has been charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs), and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the PDEA chair added.
Over in Abra province, a suspected ‘high-value’ drug target was arrested by undercover officers during a buy-bust operation in Bangued town last Saturday.
Suspect Oscar Pacis, a 39-year old suspected member of the Dumlao Drug Group operating in Abra yielded some five grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000, one mobile phone he used in making the drug transaction and the marked money paid to him by the poseur during the sting in Partelo Street, Zone 2 in Bangued, the official said.
