Lolo druggie back in jail

A 65-YEAR old drug offender in Iligan City who failed to finish his rehabilitation found himself back in jail after he was arrested by the local police on Wednesday evening, Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan said yesterday.

It turned out that Julius Magallanes, a businessman from La Puresima, Bara-as, Barangay Tubod in Iligan City was ordered arrested by Judge Silvestre Orejana of the Tubod, Iligan City Regional Trial Court Branch 5 after he failed to comply with the requirements of the plea bargaining rule under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A record check showed that Magallanes was previously arrested and charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

However, he was able to avail of the plea bargaining rule which required him to undergo a drug rehabilitation. Anduyan said that when it was discovered that the suspect did not finish his rehabilitation and treatment program, the court ordered the suspect’s arrest anew.

Members of the Iligan City Police Station 4 headed by Major Abogado Mautin Jr. arrested the suspect on the basis of the warrants issued last February 26.
