LUCENA CITY--- Following the recovery of 23 coronavirus desease (COVID-19) carriers who are mostly local government empoyees and frontliners in this city on Thursday, a doctor from a private hospital was also declared cleared from the virus while a health worker tested positive.
Lucena City Public Information Office in its latest bulletin announced that a doctor from Bgy. I classified as confirmed case finally recovered while a laboratory worker from Bgy. Dalahican who has been isolated turned out to be positive.
It was learned that the lab worker was among those who have been identified and isolated by authoriries during a contact tracing after a city government employee tested positive with the virus. But the latter has already recuperated and is about to be discharged from a hospital.
Last Thursday, 23 confirmed cases were declared cleared by the City Health Office under Dr. Jocelyn Chua bringing the number of remaining confirmed COVID-19 cases to 10.
The LCPIO said the remaining cases are from Barangays Gulang-Gulang, Cotta, VI, Bocohan, Dalahican, Ilayang Iyam, Ibabang Dupay and Mayao Crossing.
City Mayor Roderick Alcala attributed the patients' quick recovery to their being asymptomatic and optimistic.
He thanked the doctors and medical personnel of medical facilities especially the Quezon Medical Center where some of the recoveries were confined and treated.
The mayor also expressed gratitude to Dr. Grace Santiago who heads the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) for working hand in hand with them.
At present, this city has a total of 63 confirmed cases with 53 recoveries.
It has 152 suspected cases and 8 probable cases.
But despite the latest development, Alcala appealed to his constituents to keep on following the safety protocols and guidelines of the Inter Agency Task Force when outside their homes.
So far, Quezon province, has 129 confirmed cases and 9 deaths, still the lowest in Calabarzon region.
