CABANATUAN City -- A 45-year-old man was hacked in the neck Tuesday morning following a heated confrontation with his bolo-wielding brother-in-law and the latter’s son over a land property here.
City police chief Lt. Col. Arnel M. Dial said the victim Jesus Tablizo, of Bgy. Obrero, was rushed to the Dr. PJGMRMC.
The hacking incident happened in Purok 6, Bgy. Obrero arpound 6:40 a.m.
Police investigator Master Sgt. Joel Mendoza said the suspects were Ireneo Sangalang Sr. and his son Ireneo Jr., both of Bgy. Obrero, who fled on foot after the attack.
Sangalang Sr. is the brother of the victim’s wife.
“Hindi rin sila magkakaiba kasi bayaw ni victim si suspect dahil asawa ni Jesus ‘yung kapatid ni Ireneo Sr.,” said Mendoza, adding that land dispute could be the motive behind the incident.
Prior to the hacking, the younger Sangalang engaged the victim in a fistfight before the older suspect joined the fray and hacked the victim with a bolo in the neck.
Mendoza said charges of attempted homicide were already filed against the suspects.
