A 52-YEAR-OLD fisherman who was reportedly angered by the strict enforcement of quarantine protocols in their neighborhood in Placer, Masbate is now in jail for trying to assault two local barangay officials last Saturday, Police Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Anthony S. Alcañeses said.
Suspect Jupiter Bandojo, a resident of Barangay Quibrada in Guinawayan Island in Placer is now facing criminal charges for attempted murder, assault upon an agent of a person in authority and violation of Republic Act 11332 otherwise known as the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act,” said the Bicol police director.
According to Alcañeses, members of the Placer Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect following a complaint from Bgy. Quibrada chairman Vecinta Anadales.
It turned out that around 9:30 a.m. last Sunday, the suspect who was holding a knife on hands confronted barangay ‘tanods’ Jovani Arcenas and Charito Arnoco about their strict implementation of the curfew hours in their community.
While the barangay watchmen were explaining to him the need to enforce the curfew, Bandojo tried to stab Arcenas,32, but missed. He also tried to repeatedly stab Arnoco, the 54-year old ‘Chief Tanod’ of Bgy. Quibrada but the latter managed to evade his attacks.
Other people in the area helped in subduing the suspect before turning him over to the local police.
