Mayor orders lockdown of police station in Quezon

LUCENA City -- The mayor of General Luna, Quezon ordered the lockdown of  the police station after a police officer was infected by the deadly Covid-19.

This was confirmed by Quezon police director Col.  Audie Madrideo in a local television-radio program hosted by Quezon Public Information Office chief Ma. Janet Buelo.

Madrideo hailed Mayor Matt Florido for showing respect and concern to the local police force under Capt. Jun Balilo and for shouldering the laboratory expenses of their swab tests.

“We have our own swab test kits but it takes almost two weeks to determine the results if the specimen will be examined at PNP Crime Laboratory or Research Institute for Tropical Medicine but Mayor Florido volunteered to have them examined in a private labaratory and vowed to shoulder the expenses in order not to prolong the lockdown,”  Madrideo said.

The police official said Florido is an example of a good mayor and leader who is very much active and vigilant to assure the safety of his constituents.

Madrideo also reminded the other mayors that they can always intensify their local guidelines and enforce stricter local ordinances.

He pointed out that the mayors can place on lockdown barangays with high cases of Covid-19.

As of Tuesday, Buelo said Quezon has 413 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 215 recoveries, 17 deaths, and 181 active cases.
