CEBU policemen early morning yesterday arrested the mayor and vice-mayor of Camotes Islands in Cebu after a search of their houses resulted in the confiscation of illegal firearms, ammunition and a grenade, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said.
The official said that armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Leopoldo V. Cañete of the Barili, Cebu Regional Trial Court Branch 60, searched the houses of Mayor Aly Aranas Arquillano and Vice-Mayor Alfredo A. Arquillano in Barangay Poblacion, San Francisco past 6 in the morning.
Sinas said that Cebu policemen led by Captains Nazarino Emia and Alejandro Batobalonos and Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Rey Natnat and the Regional Maritime Unit 7 under Major Jose Los Baños arrested the two officials after they discovered two caliber .45 magazines with several live ammunition, one 9mm live ammunition, a cal. .22 rifle with a loaded magazine, a chamber-loaded cal. .45 pistol without serial number, one AR-15 automatic rifle with 12 bullets, one fragmentation grenade, 68 spent cal. .45 cartridges and 50 spent 9mm casings inside their residence.
