A most wanted terror group member in Socksargen was killed in a shootout with agents of the Police Regional Office 12 in Polomolok, South Cotabato on Monday, PRO12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus announced yesterday.
Naim Tawan Macabangin, the subject of a warrant of arrest for two counts of murder, engaged officers out to arrest him in a gunbattle and was killed in the process, said the official.
According to Corpus, members of the PRO12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Regional Intelligence Division 12, the General Santos City Police Office and the Polomolok Municipal Police Station were involved in the operation that led to the death of the wanted person.
Corpus said that Macabangin is a known member of a local terrorist group called the ‘Nilong Group’ and is a known gun-for-hire. The suspect suffered gunshot wounds in the body and died while being rushed to the Polomolok Muncipal Hospital.
Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one chamber-loaded caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing six live ammunition and five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
Corpus also reported the capture of three most wanted persons in Sultan Kudarat last week. One of the suspects identified as Razzel Canta, a 30-year-old rape suspect was tracked down in his hiding place in Barangay Cuden in Senator Ninoy Aquino municipality. Canta is the 9th most wanted man in his municipality.
A 2nd suspect identified as Jobert Damiles,27, a man wanted for four counts of murder was arrested in Sitio Tinipakan in Bgy. Santa Clara in Kalamansig town. Damiles is the no. 1 most wanted person in Kalamansig until he was arrested last Saturday.
On Sunday, local policemen also captured the no. 1 most wanted person of Sultan Kudarat identified as Rod Andre Orate,27, during a manhunt operation in Sitio Datu Ilang in Bgy. Hinilaan. The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for four counts of murder.
Corpus said that Damiles and Orate are known New People’s Army members in the region.
