February 07, 2019

AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested on separate occasions in Zamboanga City two suspected members of the  Abu Sayyaf Group tagged in the 2001 Golden Harvest kidnapping.

National Bureau of Investigation assistant director for Intelligence Service Eric Distor identified those nabbed as Harub Jaljalis alias “Indal” and Pinky Ani Hadjinulla.

The two were arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Basilan Regional Trial Court.

Distor said Jaljalis and Hadjinulla were members of the ASG-Urban Terrorist Group cell based in Zamboanga City.

Jaljalis was reportedly a bomb-maker for the Abu Sayyaf’s Radullan Sahiron faction and one of the few operatives who had received training from  jihadists who came from Indonesia and the Middle East.

Hadjinulla  was tasked to conduct reconnaissance work in Zamboanga Peninsula.

One of the survivors of the Golden Harvest kidnapping incident positively identified the two as among the Abu Sayyaf members who abducted them.

Fifteen banana plantation workers were abducted by the bandits on June 11, 2001 at the Golden Harvest Plantation in Bgy. Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan.

The Abu Sayyaf beheaded five of the workers while the rest either managed to escape or were rescued by pursuing military forces.

The NBI said appropriate charges are being readied against the suspects.
