New Peoples Army weapons discovered

GOVERNMENT forces in Eastern Mindanao discovered an arm cache owned by suspected members of New Peoples Army ( NPA) during their operation in Agusan del Norte.

This was confirmed by Lt. Col. Ezra Balagtey, spokesman of AFP- Eastern Mindanao Command.

Balagtey said the arm cache was discovered by boatrolling  platoon of 23rd Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division  inside a cave located at Sitio Bulak, Barangay Lower Olave Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The 40x30 square meters hideout can accommodate more or less 15  rebels.

The troops recovered two unserviceable Garand rifles (serial number 2251028 and defaced) and 90 bottles of medicine.

On Tuesday, operating troops of the 56th Infantry Battalion recovered four high powered firearms in  another arms cache of rebels located at Barangay Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

Recovered from the said arm cache were two M14 Rifles, one 50 Cal. Browning Heavy Machine Gun and one 60 MM mortar, a magazine for M14 and 7.62mm ball ammunition Maj. Gen. Felimon T. Santos Jr., commander of Eastern Mindanao Command, acknowledged the complementing efforts of the soldiers and the community in attaining peace in the area.
