LUCENA CITY -- After serving for seven days, the Offfcer In Charge of Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) was ordered relieved by the Phiippine National Police hierarchy.
There are circulating rumors that the sudden relief of Senior Supt. Joseph Arguelles had something to do with the controversial Gayeta case involving three Quezon policemen but Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza flatly belied it.
“His relief was based on a resolution approved by the oversight committee of the PNP and it has no connection with Gayeta case”, said Carranza.
In the first place, Carranza said Arguelles’ earlier appointment in Quezon police was OIC only.
Arguelles who was ordered to report to his previous assignment as chief of Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division was replaced by Senior Supt. Ramil Montilla on Tuesday.
A member of Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1993, Montilla was previously assigned at PNP Anti- Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG).
