Newly-appointed police officer killed in Isabela

A 37-YEAR-OLD Police Lieutenant who went on AWOL after being accused of involvement in a robbery-holdup incident in Reina Mercedes, Isabela was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen in front of his sister’s residence in Cauayan City shortly before noon last Sunday, a Police Regional Office 2 report said.

Lt. Oliver Tolentino, a newly-appointed Police Commissioned Officer via Lateral Entry was sitting in front of his sister’s house in Purok 6 in Barangay San Fermin, Cauayan City when the armed suspects arrived and without any provocation shot him repeatedly before fleeing towards a still unknown direction.

The victim, a resident of Bgy. Cabaruan in Cauayan City suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the body and died while being taken to the Dr. Ester Garcia Medical Center.

PRO12 director, Brigadier General Angelito A. Casimiro said that members of the Cauayan City Police Station are still tracking down the killers whose identities and motive are yet to be established.

Casimiro however said that the victim was declared on AWOL or Absence Without Official Leave status after he was linked to a robbery-holdup incident in the province which is still being investigated.
