NPA reb wanted for frustrated murder falls

POLICE Regional Office 9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla yesterday announced the capture of a New People’s Army rebel wanted for a frustrated murder in Zamboanga City.

The official identified the suspect as Camilo Bucoy, a 57-year-old resident of Barangay San Isidro, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay who is the subject of a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued by the Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Regional Trial Court Branch 36 with a P200,000 recommended bail.

Quidilla said that combined operatives of the Titay Muncipal Police Station, the Zamboanga City Police Office and the Regional Intelligence Unit 9 tracked down the suspect in his hiding place in Sitio Basagan, Bgy. Curuan in Zamboanga City around 11:50 a.m. last Wednesday.

He said that the suspect is a known member of the Militia ng Bayan operating under the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee. The NPA band led by one Commander Garry Pagente is said to be operating in the municipalities of Titay and R.T. Lim in Zamboanga Sibugay and Gutalac, Labason, Kalawat in Baliguan towns in Zamboanga del Norte.

Quidilla said that the suspect is now being held at the Titay police lock-up facility pending his turnover to court for proper disposition.
