LUCENA City -- Another suspected drug pusher, who has been included on the drugs watchlist of the city police, was killed in a shootout with police operatives while three others were arrested during three separate drug-bust operations in Bgy. Marketview, here, early yesterday.
Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman, Quezon police director, said the slain suspect, Norberto Pañoso, alias Norbing, 50, smoke fish vendor and resident of Purok Atin Atin, suffered a bullet wound during the shootout and died on the spot.
De Guzman identified the three arrested suspects as Archie Garcia, alias Ara, Adrian Albina, alias Ian, both of Greenhills, Phase 1, and Meynard Volpane, alias Manika, of Greenhills Phase 2 at same village.
City police director Supt. Romulo Albacea, who initiated the implementation of Oplan Salikop, said Pañoso took the bait when he handed a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to PO3 Henry Mago, who acted as poseur buyer in exchange for a marked P500 bill at around 1:10 a.m.
“But when Mago introduced himself as a policeman and was about to collar Pañoso, the latter pushed him hard, drew a cal. .38 revolver from his back and opened fire,” said Albacea.
He said Mago, who was already holding his pistol at the time, quickly took cover and fired back, hitting the suspect, resulting to his instant death.
Albacea said elements of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office led by Senior Insp. Dixon Mercado recovered the cal. .38 revolver with serial #36945 and loaded with four bullets and one fired cartridge case used by the suspect, a checkered coin purse that contained two P500 bills, seven transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and a fired cartridge case for cal. 9mm pistol.
He said the crime scene processing was witnessed by media representative Tony Sandoval, village chief Edwin Napule and Councilman Joel Aseron.
Meanwhile, Albacea said Garcia and Albina yielded six plastic sachets containing 1.5 grams of suspected shabu while police operatives seized nine small plastic sachets of suspected drugs from Volpane.
