CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A college student was detained at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region III (PDEA3) jail facility here after more than P1 million worth of dried marijuana were seized from him last February 13.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino, PDEA3 Director Lyndon Aspacio identified the suspect as Karlo Jose Pio R. Ricafrente, male, 24, and resident of Santolan, Pasig.
The suspect was arrested by joint operatives from PDEA3, PDEA-NCR, PDEA-CAR and Drug Enforcement Unit of the Quezon City Police District in a land interdiction operation inside a bus terminal in Cubao.
Seized from Ricafrente were seven bricks of marijuana with an estimated street value of P1,200,000, three plastic bags containing brown powdery substance, one folded paper containing dried marijuana leaves, and one plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves and fruit tops.
According to Director Aspacio, Ricafrente is a native of Albay and a college student of a university in Manila and drug trafficking was his means of livelihood to support his studies and vices.
Confiscated illegal substances were submitted to PDEA Laboratory Service for quantitative and qualitative examination.
Violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002 is being readied for filing in court against the suspect.
