P21M Ecstasy, marijuana seized

NEARLY P21 million worth of the banned designer drug called “Ecstasy” and dried marijuana bricks were seized by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Capital Region Police Office in four separate anti-narcotics operations on Saturday, officials said yesterday.

PDEA chair Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said  a “delivery-bust” near the Petron Gasoline Station in Barangay San Roque, Dau in Lubao, Pampanga around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday resulted in the arrest of Joshua Bautista, 20; William Valencia, 41; Rayhy Quiboloy, 30; and Patrick Bagang, 35.

Recovered from them were 5,000 pieces of MDMA or Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception and favorite drug among celebrities and the rich during parties.

The drugs were valued at P8.5 million.

Villanueva said his men were joined by members of the Lubao Municipal Police Station in conducting the sting. 

Bautista and Quiboloy are both residents of Guagua while Valencia is from Dau 1st in Lubao. Bagang is from Bgy. Sta. Cruz in Lubao.

A follow-up operation near the Morzan Hardware in Bgy. San Roque in Dau, 1st Lubao, Pampanga led to the arrest of Katrina Mendoza alias “Charmaine Valencia Bacani,” 36, of Bgy. Betis, Guagua, who yielded another 5,000 pieces of Ecstasy drugs worth P8.5 million.

P4M MARIJUANA CONFISCATED          

NCRPO director Major Gen. Debold M. Sinas reported the seizure of 33 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves in an an operation in Antipolo City conducted by operatives of the Northern Police District headed by Brigadier Gen. Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Sinas said  members of the NPD District Special Operations Unit and District Drug Enforcement Unit arrested suspects Joseph Becoña,24, of No. 283 Purok Maligaya 2 in Mambugan, Antipolo City; and Idilio Saldaña, 59, a production supervisor and resident of No. 230 San Jose Street, Antipolo City  in a sting beside the Flying-V gasoline station on Sumulong Highway.

According to Ylagan, the operation was triggered by an initial buy-bust operation  on McArthur Highway in Malanday, Valenzuela City which resulted in the arrest of Josaphat Velarde alias ‘Boss,’  29, of No. 7 Athens Building Chateau in Bgy. Lingunan.

Ylagan said  Velarde yielded a kilo of marijuana and 78 grams of Kush, a high-grade marijuana derivative, in a buy-bust around 11:20 p.m. Friday.

The NPD director said  acting on information provided by Velarde, his men conducted the follow-up operation in Antipolo City in coordination with the local police.

They arrested the two suspects and  confiscated 33 dried marijuana bricks weighing a total of 33 kilos,  P40,000 worth of boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill, a cell phone and a plateless motorcycle they used in transporting the drugs.

The recovered cannabis in Antipolo City were valued at P3,960,000 while those seized in Valuenzuela City were worth over P200,000.
