NEARLY P21 million worth of the banned designer drug called ‘Ecstasy’ and dried marijuana bricks were seized by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Capital Region Police Office in four separate 'intelligence-drive' anti-narcotics operations in the country on Saturday, officials said yesterday.
PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva said the controlled delivery operation near the Petron Gasoline Station in Barangay San Roque, Dau in Lubao, Pampanga at 8:20 p.m. Saturday resulted in the arrest of Joshua Bautista,20, William Valencia,41, Rayhy Quiboloy,30, and Patrick Bagang,35.
Recovered during the operation were 5,000 pieces of MDMA or Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, a synthetic drug that alters mood and perception and is known to be a favorite among celebrities and the ‘rich and famous.’ The drugs were valued at P8.5 million.
Bautista and Quiboloy are both residents of Guagua while Valencia is from Dau 1st in Lubao. Bagang is from Bgy. Sta. Cruz in Lubao.
A follow-up operation near the Morzan Hardware in Bgy. San Roque in Dau, 1st Lubao, Pampanga led in the arrest of Katrina Mendoza alias ‘Chatmaine Valencia Bacani,’ a 36-year old resident of Bgy. Betis, Guagua and the recovery of another 5,000 pieces of MMDA tablets worth P8.5 million 8:38 p.m. Saturday, said Villanueva.
On the other hand, NCRPO director, Major Gen. Debold M. Sinas announced the seizure of 33 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves in an anti-narcotics operation in Antipolo City conducted by operatives of the Northern Police District headed by Brigadier Gen. Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan at 12:20 p.m. Saturday.
Sinas said that members of the NPD District Special Operations Unit and District Drug Enforcement Unit arrested suspects Joseph Becoña,24, a resident of no. 283 Purok Maligaya 2 in Mambugan, Antipolo City and Idilio Saldaña,59, a production supervisor from no. 230 San Jose Street, Antipolo City during the sting conducted just beside the Flying-V gasoline station along Sumulong Highway.
According to Ylagan, the operation was triggered by an initial buy-bust operation at no. 601 McArthur Highway in Malanday, Valenzuela City which resulted in the arrest of Josaphat Velarde alias ‘Boss,’ a 29-year-old jobless resident of no. 7 Athens Building Chateau in Bgy. Lingunan.
Ylagan said Velarde yielded a kilo of marijuana and 78 grams of Kush, a high-grade marijuana derivative during the buy-bust operation around 11:20 p.m. Friday.
