POLICE arrested a notorious drug trafficker in Central Visayas in a buy-bust in Cebu City early yesterday morning and seized from him at least P39 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 7 director Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas said.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, Sinas said suspect Jeffrey Jade Cabaron was placed under arrest after he sold shabu to an undercover officer of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Station 7 in Sitio Caimito in Barangay Tisa around 1:15 a.m.
Initially recovered from the suspect were a large plastic packet containing the drugs and the boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.
Sinas said a search at the suspect’s room led in the recovery of six more plastic bags containing shabu and P60,000 cash in different denominations.
Sinas said the shabu, weighing some 3.3 kilograms and worth at least P39 million, was examined by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 7.
According to Sinas, members of the Cebu City Police Office under Senior Supt. Royina Marzan conducted the sting in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. A team of undercover officers led by Chief Inspector Regino Maramag launched the actual operation.
The suspect is now being held at the Cebu City Police Station 7 facing non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
