P400K shabu found in Cebu drug den

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday evening smashed a notorious drug den in Cebu City following a raid which led in the arrest of the dive maintainer and four of his visitors and the seizure of over P400,000 worth of shabu, PDEA chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva announced yesterday.

The official identified those arrested as Lolito Layam, the 57-year old suspected maintainer of the raided drug den in Barangay Basak San Nicolas in Cebu City and his visitors Renato Tacder,26; Nichol Albert Jimeno,37; Lumar Saavedra,27; and Lowell Layam,39.

According to Villanueva, members of the PDEA Regional Office 7, joined by operatives from the Special Operations Unit 5 of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group headed by Brigadier Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr. stormed the drug den following a buy-bust operation 7 p.m. Thursday.

Recovered from the suspects were 51 plastic packets containing around 62 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at P421,600, assorted drug paraphernalia and the marked money paid to Layam by an undercover officer.

The suspects are now facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Villanueva.
