P42M marijuana destroyed in Kalinga

SECURITY troops overran a massive marijuana plantation in Tinglayan, Kalinga where they uprooted and destroyed an estimated P42 million worth of fully-grown cannabis plants and seedlings, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chair, Director General Wilkins M. Villanueva announced yesterday.

The official said that combined operatives of the PDEA Cordillera Regional Office, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office and the Cordillera Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion stormed the nearly 8-hectare wide plantation site in Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan municipality after hours of trekking.

Officers led by Intelligence Officer Wendel Balais and Captain Luis Bulao Jr. uprooted some 210,000 marijuana plants and burned them on site.

However, no arrests were made during the 3-day operation.
