
P5.3-M floating cocaine found in Albay
AN estimated P5.3 million worth of cocaine in vacuum-packed plastic on Friday was found by two fishermen floating in the waters of Rapu-Rapu, Albay.
Police Regional Office 5 director Brig. Gen. Arnel Escobal said the floating cocaine was found on the shoreline of Minaulang Palay in Bgy, Calanaga in Rapu-Rapu by Adonis Bellen, 59; and his son Alvin, 35; both residents of Bgy. Nagcalsot, Rapu-Rapu.
The two fishermen turned over their find to local barangay officials, who, in turn informed the Rapu-Rapu Municipal Police Station.
The local police brought the drugs to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The discovered cocaine weighed 1,019.49 grams, with an estimated market value of P 5,403, 297.
Escobal earlier called on residents of coastal communities in Bicol to immediately report to the police the presence of floating cocaine in their areas and be rewarded.
